One Step at a Time Towards Dreams

Sometimes there comes a moment in life when we realise we want to grow towards something new. Not necessarily because the old was bad, but because our inner voice has begun to speak more clearly.

For me, learning something new has been a step towards myself.

Over the years, I have noticed that I keep returning to creativity, visual expression and learning. The first important turn towards photography and the visual world did not happen overnight, but gradually. Each phase has brought me a little closer to my own direction.

This journey has not always been easy, and perhaps it didn’t need to be. Through challenges, experiments, mistakes and new realisations, I have slowly begun to find my way.

A bridge between the old and the new

Many of us think that changing direction means taking a great leap into the unknown. I have noticed that more often, it’s something much smaller.

When I look back on my own path, I see that nothing has happened all at once. Each phase has built upon the one before it. I haven’t always known exactly where the road would lead, but each choice has carried me gradually forward.

Perhaps that’s why I now think that we don’t need to see the whole journey ahead of us. It’s enough to feel the direction in our hearts.

Sometimes in life, we build a bridge between the old and the new without even realising it. Only later do we see how small choices, experiments and realisations have guided us towards a direction we could not perhaps have imagined at the beginning of the journey.

A direction often reveals itself gradually

For me, that direction has been Studio Weird.

If someone had told me five years ago that I would one day have my own photography studio and create art, I might not have believed it. And yet, that is the direction in which small choices, experiments and realisations have gradually carried me.

Studio Weird is a photography studio, but it is also much more. It is a place where photography, visual expression, meaningful encounters and art exist side by side. Through Studio Weird, my own visual world has found space to become visible.

I want to photograph people in a way that allows them to see themselves in a new light. I want to create art that invites people to pause. Photographs and mirror elements that encourage reflection on one’s life path, emotions and everything we carry within us.

Studying, entrepreneurship and art are not separate things for me. They are part of the same journey. They build a bridge between where I am now and what I am moving towards.

Not everything has to change at once

Searching for a new direction can feel frightening. Especially as an adult, it’s easy to think that we should have known earlier what we wanted to do or what kind of life we wanted to build.

I think differently.

We are never finished. We are allowed to grow, change and discover new sides of ourselves even when we thought we already knew who we were.

Changing direction does not mean that everything has to change in a single moment. The greatest changes are rarely born from one brave leap. More often, they are built from small actions, decisions and experiments that gradually lead us in the right direction.

The beginning of change can be a course one has dreamed of for a long time, a book that opens new thoughts, or an encounter that makes us look at our own direction in a new way. Sometimes it’s a decision to give more space to creativity, or something else that feels meaningful in that particular moment of life.

Even a small shift in direction can be meaningful, if it brings us closer to something of our own.

Perhaps the journey itself matters most

Throughout life, we carry many roles with us. Motherhood, studying and entrepreneurship have taught me that I can learn something new every day. Art, in turn, has given me a way to see, feel and express things I can’t always put into words. I am never completely there or finished, and I don’t need to be. Perhaps the journey itself is what matters most.

Dreams don’t come with an expiry date.

It’s not too late to learn something new.
It’s not too late to give more space to creativity.
It’s not too late to take the first step towards something that feels truly your own.

We don’t need to be ready in order to begin.

Sometimes it’s enough to dare to take the first step.
